Millicent Clare Whitemore is a senior studying History and Secondary Social Studies Education at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Prior to CU, she
attended Holy Family High School in Broomfield, CO. She wrote this paper during the Fall semester of 2014 for Historical Thinking and Writing course
that focused on the Mau Mau War in Kenya. Millicent was inspired to write about female involvement in the Mau Mau movement after reading the autobiography of a female forest fighter, Wambui Waiyaki Otieno. She thanks Dr. Myles Osborne for his guidance over the course of the semester.
